Dear reader,
We’ve been been extremely busy in Q1 and have published quite a few stories. There are more to come.
So what happened since the previous newsletter? At the end of 2021, we were awarded a two-year organisational funding by the Dutch Journalism Fund. This will cover about 20-25% of our expected 2022-2023 budgets. There was also positive news about a scientific grant application in which we are participating as a journalistic partner. This grant will cover part of our investigations into the tobacco industry in the next four years.
In view of all this, we decided to reinforce our staff. We were able to attract four experienced journalists to develop stories for our defence & security desk, our tobacco industry desk and our energy desk. We also hired a talented trainee with extensive experience in the judicial field who is now aspiring a career in journalism.
After three years of generous support, the chairman of our Supervisory Board decided to retire. We were fortunate to be able to find two excellent new members.
As always, we hope you appreciate our work and will consider a donation.
Sincerely,
Marcel Metze
